I picked up a 2024 CX-50 turbo premium about six weeks ago. This is my fourth Mazda, going all the way back to first gen 1979 RX-7. Since then, I've had 2005 Mazda 3 and a 2014 Mazda 6, which the CX-50 replaced. As far as reliability goes, I put just over 500k miles on the previous Mazdas with nothing more than a failed sensor on the 6 and failed A/C compressor on the 3. I considered an Outback, but after realizing I didn't want a station wagon and then my history with Mazdas, the CX-50 was a no-brainer for me. So far, very satisfied with it.

Elantra interior is super super nice but the sedan shape and overall rear end look is hideous

Don't get the Elantra N, GR AND TYPE R is better. The problem is Hyundai not the car but is not reliable. Elantra is a time bomb. GR is so much better than the N. I test drove the GR and is amazing. The interior so bad that's why I got the type R FL5 2024 so nice so expensive AND JUST INCASE I HAD THE ELANTRA N 2023 FOR 4 MONTHS NEVER AGAIN

The 6MT it's true, is all time 4wd, however it's regular is a 40-60 split favoring the rear... then you shift it to 4H for a true 50-50 split, and then you also have 4low. It's particularly nice on things like gravel or sand where you can adjust the amount of kick out on your back wheels or pivot from the center of the vehicle... I LOVE my FJ.

I can fit 2 people, 2 golf bags, and enough luggage for a week long trip in my 2024 GR86. That is what I wanted in a sports car and I GOT IT. The Miata is fun, but otherwise useless.

I got GR86 , it was a very difficult decision for me between GR86 and Miata, I chose GR 86 for a few reasons. 1- Its engine is more powerful than Miatas, Miata is like a fast city car not sports car IMO, whereas GR86 is a proper entry level sports car. 2- GR86 has stronger character, it looks unique, its dashboard is unique, even some of its advantages and disadvantages are unique,whereas Miata looks like a standard Japanese car, when you look at it you feel like it's just another cool Japanese car whereas GR86 is GR86. 3- GR86 looks sharper and resembles other more expensive Sports cars(Lotus,Alpine,Aston Martin...etc) whereas Mazda looks more like a fun/cool city car. 4- Last but not least I love Toyota, my last two cars were Toyota Aygo and Toyota Aygo X, I have good relationship with Toyota dealers and Toyota finance so finding a brand new GR86 and getting the part Exchange with my Aygo X and new finance deal sorted was fairly easy, even though GR86 has very limited availibility in the UK and it's dificult to find a new GR86 (Unlike Miata which has unlimited availability in the UK).

People buy cars with 10 MPG to make this guy happy since PHEV are absolute garbage. So it's not environmentally friendly to drive to and back from work in pure EV mode and use your solar panels to charge the vehicle afterward.

Mazda has the absolute worse visibility - the Subaru, the best.

Just test drove the CX-5 and the cx- 50. Wound up buying the 50. I find the 30 to be a bit pointless because with it being so small you might as well buy a Mazda 3 hatchback. It's sportier and better looking.

What upsets me these days with hybrids & EV's is it has increased homeowners & car insurance by a massive amount, eliminating any cost advantage over a traditional ICE.

I used to own a 2000 A4 5 speed. While this isn't an audi or awd or v6... It might just be as fun and comfortable to drive so I'm considering it. Manual offerings in this great country of ours are terrible. It's gonna be this or a 7+ year old bmw for me. Just worried about reliability on the bmw

Out of curiosity, doesn’t the Premium trim for the GRC elevate the interior with more soft touch materials, leather, etc? Wouldn’t that fix the shortcomings of the Core interior?

I get 29 mpg combined in my manual brz (according to the gauge). The epa tests have always underrated the manuals i've had

The GR Corolla is extremely easy to tune. A simple ECU swap unlocks so much potential, it’s insane. I can’t wait to get one.

Depends on your preference, either would be a good choice. However for me, the markup they charge on GR corollas are not acceptable. I know some Hyundai dealers are trying to markup on the N as well, but it’s not as bad as Toyota. Heck neither is as bad as civic type R, but just because I refuse to pay a penny more than MSRP, for me the Elantra N wins.

I'm sorry but the modern Japanese cars and their interior is just... 🤦‍♂️

If I was driving the car on the street only and in cold weather or where the AWD is necessary, I would choose the GR. If You plan to track the car, it is Elantra N all day. The GR overheaqts on the track and the brakes can't stand up all day. I have tracked the Elantra N without mods and with a tune making over 320 WHP and it gets heat-soaked by the end of the day, but it performs well and takes the abuse. For me, it is about knowing what you want out of a car and picking one of these good options.

By conflating carbon footprint with environmental impact, you are not recognizing the benefit to air quality of EVs. Regarding your statement that driving an electric car twice as far as a Honda Pilot is not helping the environment, you need to recognize that there is more to environmental impact than GHG emissions. Air quality benefits much more from EVs than ICE vehicles. Although the concept of a ‘long tailpipe’ is real, meaning there are non-zero air emissions associated with EVs, the quantity and more importantly the quality of emissions are vastly different between EVs and ICE vehicles. ICE vehicles bring with them CO, NOx, unburned hydrocarbon emissions, and much higher levels of smog producing chemicals like ozone and PM2.5 particles. By contrast, EV emissions are generated at a remote power plant when electricity is produced only by means other than solar, wind, geothermal, hydro, or nuclear - so nearly one third the smog-producing and GHG emissions are reduced right off the bat by generating emission-free power. Then there is the superior pollution controls employed by power plants using chemical scrubbers to capture air pollutants before they are emitted to the air. Finally, and this is BIG: EVs are about 3 times more efficient at turning energy into motion energy than gasoline cars. It’s much better for air quality (I’m not referring to GHGs - I’m referring to hazardous air pollutants that cause premature deaths) if we don’t drive vehicles that produce two units of waste heat energy for every one unit of motion energy. That wasted heat energy - heat of combustion - has a lot of particles and pollutants associated with it that are dangerous to respiratory health. Stop equating ‘environmental impact’ solely with GHG emissions. Climate change is an important issue, but we need clean, breathable air, too.

It's my opinion from testing all these cars. Mazda: Good with power and fun to drive Honda: Cute Subaru: The best. Feel it by a test drive Hyundai: Good for short term use.

Bought mine for hunting and fishing and I can take mine across washed out roads at ease

This is a great suv for a family that needs an affordable 3 row with better features than a Toyota and Honda and it’s shown it’s a reliable vehicle.

In Ontario, the Gr Corolla is 38% more money on a cash purchase. The engine is a bored out version of the reliable FA20 and has less boost and a lower redline. Safe to assume the FA24dit is going to be a reliable engine in stock config. Hot hatches are popular but there's something useful about having a trunk. Maybe I'd be in the market for a 3banger with worse back seats and that gets 1/2 second better 1/4 mile, if I had 38% more money Who knows...

I never understood why reviewers compare the EN with cars that are $10k more (GR Corolla, Type R) without markups. EN competitor is the Honda civic Si, which is essentially the same price after you add options equivalent to the EN. You know the Si is no competition performance wise.

The pricing on these are insane. You can't get any in the NYC metro area for under $40k, which is insane for this type of car given that you can get into several EV's for around that much. If you can charge at home, you can probably make good use of a full EV too.
